TREASURES FROM ABROAD EXHIBITION - SPRING 2023, April - June
Hong Kong, April 1, 2023 – This season Weisbrod collection is publishing two catalogues for the Spring 2023 exhibition. They have separated six objects they have never published before and presented them here.
Michael B. Weisbrod, one of the world’s leading Chinese art expert collectors, welcomes old friends and clients developed over 51 years of collecting Chinese art, as well as new collectors, auctions, and dealers of early Chinese Works of Art to visit the exhibition.
The selection includes two very rare and high-quality Song Dynasty Imperial Chinese Ceramics, in excellent condition. Both have been Thermoluminescence Tested at Oxford, in 2006 and 2007. Two exceptionally rare Imperial Jade Carvings of Beasts from the Western Han Dynasty, exhibited in Vienna in 1997, were purchased there by Mr. Weisbrod’s parents on a trip to Vienna and Prague. The two very high-quality Archaic Bronzes, both inscribed, were purchased in 2021 and early 2022 from a Taiwanese Collection.
These catalogues are the result of a spree of acquisitions Mr. Weisbrod has worked to acquire over the last 21 months, after his years of success in Shanghai. Many of these objects are from old collectors with whom Mr. Weisbrod has been able to reconnect in recent times. It is remarkable to have objects purchased decades ago and that have never been published before in this Hong Kong Exhibition.
Many Chinese art collectors know that in his younger days Mr. Weisbrod was known for bold acquisitions. As seen, this same feeling resurfaced again as old objects suddenly became available from several collectors, as well as through dealers during these past Covid years.
The Treasure from Abroad - Spring 2023 exhibition will extend throughout this season in Hong Kong until June 31, 2023. Catalogues are available through Orientations, our gallery and our Chinese art website.
Viewing is “By Appointment Only.” To make an appointment, call 852 2868 9865 or email info@weisbrodcollection.com.
